City of Dallas { Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge }

The idea of taming the Trinity River and providing flood control has been a vision of Dallas for more than a century. Today, that vision represents the largest urban development effort in city history. When it is complete, it will fulfill a $2 billion commitment by 17 diverse organizations, as well as hundreds of donors, advocates and countless other individuals.

Ron Kirk

In 1998, Mayor Ron Kirk took the Trinity vision to the people of Dallas. He placed a $246 million bond proposal on the ballot and helped secure its approval. This vote became the first benchmark in The Trinity project’s modern development.

Laura Miller

One of the lasting legacies of Mayor Laura Miller came in 2002 with her management of the “Balanced Vision Plan.” Her dedication to this vision led city, county, state and federal officials to work together and reinvigorate the Trinity River.

Tom Leppert

Shortly after Tom Leppert became Mayor of Dallas in 2007, he said about The Trinity project, “We have the opportunity to realize our dream. Now it’s time to get to work and make it happen.” Under his leadership, the time is now.

Dallas is transforming the Trinity River from a back alley into a city showcase. It will demonstrate again that Dallas can embrace a great idea and make it happen.
