City of Dallas Announcement: Construction Momentum for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge
The City of Dallas’ Trinity River Corridor Project announces an important progress update for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, the signature bridge that will replace the Continental Avenue Bridge in 2011. This Santiago Calatrava designed world-class structure continues to be built in the floodway at a rapid
pace due to the small amounts of rain Dallas has experienced over the past several months. This project is a collaborative effort by the City of Dallas, TxDOT, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Williams Bros., and J. D. Abrams, Inc. At the construction site, multiple sets of columns rise from the floodway, approach beams are in place and the steel cage for the 400’ center arch is being anchored.
The most exciting sign of progress is the fact that the first shipment of steel arrived at the Port of Houston and it is expected to be transported via truck to Dallas within the next few weeks.
